Somatic & Trauma-Informed Therapy in Charleston

I’m Stephanie Dasher, LPC-A under the Supervision of Dr. Maia Gill, PhD (SC# 1202), Navi Institute LLC. As a Certified Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Practitioner, I offer somatically informed counseling for adults in Charleston and throughout the Lowcountry and South Carolina via secure online sessions and, when appropriate, walk-and-talk therapy. My work starts with personalized treatment plans that integrate elements of sensorimotor-informed approaches, Somatic Experiencing–informed approaches, CBT, mindfulness, breathwork, and gentle movement, always grounded in consent, collaboration, and pacing that fits you.
WHO SEEKS COUNSELING?
People who seek counseling or therapy may describe feeling stuck in patterns they can’t shift on their own. Stress, anxiety, burnout, frustration, relationship strain, or a general sense of feeling “off” can show up not only in thoughts but also in the body and nervous system.
Benefits of trauma-informed counseling
Trauma-informed counseling is not a specific technique, but a way of approaching care that recognizes how overwhelming experiences can shape the nervous system, relationships, and health over time. Rather than asking “What’s wrong with you?” it’s more curious about “What happened, and how has your system adapted?” For many adults in South Carolina, trauma-informed counseling can help them: •Better understand how anxiety, shutdown, or reactivity are linked to past experiences and current stressors •Learn evidence-based tools (such as somatic and sensorimotor practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and breathwork) to support nervous system regulation •Build safer, more boundaries-based relationships at home, work, and in their communities •Reduce shame and self-blame by seeing symptoms as survival adaptations rather than personal failures •Increase capacity for rest, connection, and meaningful parts of life that may have felt out of reach No single approach works for everyone, and trauma-informed counseling is not a replacement for higher levels of care (such as inpatient, PHP, or IOP) when those are needed. But for many people who are stable enough for outpatient therapy, working with a trauma-informed provider can offer a safer, more collaborative space to process what happened and practice new ways of responding. At Gnosis Wellness Collective, I offer trauma-informed counseling to adults across South Carolina via telehealth, and walk-and-talk sessions in Charleston when appropriate.
