Wellness Coaching, in Charleston South Carolina

Life Coaching to help you understand what’s happening beneath your patterns and experiment with new ways of responding.

What Is Life Coaching?

At Gnosis Wellness Collective in Charleston, SC, our trauma-informed life coaching services are non-clinical and designed for individuals, leaders, and teams who are navigating loss, transition, burnout, or a sense of misalignment, and who want structured support that builds emotional resilience and goes deeper than generic mindset work.  Life coaching is best suited for individuals who are generally stable but feeling stuck, burnt out, or ready to move through a transition with more intention and support.

Our coaches use the ADAPT™ Framework alongside:

  • Somatic and body-based practices

  • The neurobiology of stress, emotion, and behavior

  • Evolutionary, resilience, and positive psychology

What Is the ADAPT™ Framework?

ADAPT is a five-stage framework for creating change, developed by Dr. Maia Gill and refined since 2009. It came out of work with veterans and their families, and it's the structure underneath coaching here.

  • Align. The opening question is a simple one: what areas of your life are most important to you in this very moment? We identify the areas tied to your well-being and purpose and get clear on which ones actually matter right now, using the Aligning Purpose Scale and the Pathway to Purpose cards.

  • Direction. Out of those areas, pick the one you want to engage with currently. This is the prioritization step, and it's usually where motivation comes from, because you're working on something you chose.

  • Approach. Start engaging in that area. We build a Stepping-Stones Map of the micro-actions that would increase or decrease your engagement, and use IMOK, a weekly tracking system, to work through obstacles as they come up.

  • Purpose. Sustained engagement in the areas that matter is what puts you on the pathway. The tools work together here rather than separately, the scale, the cards, the map, and the weekly tracking all feed the same thing.

  • Therapy. In ADAPT, therapy means whatever is genuinely healing for you: time in nature, relationships, meaningful acts, caring for your body. It's about connection between self, others, and environment. This stage is about what's therapeutic in the broad sense. It is not psychotherapy, and coaching here remains non-clinical.

What Coaching at Gnosis is like

  • Integrative and uses evidence-based frameworks & practical tools

  • Personalized, and tailored to your roles, values, and real-life constraints

  • Nervous system–aware and paced to build resilience and capacity

Sessions can explore meaning, direction, boundaries, relationships, leadership, or creative work, with a focus on skills and insight you can apply between sessions in your life, work, or organization.

Our goal isn’t quick fixes or performance pressure. It’s to help you build clarity, internal alignment, and sustainable change over time.

Is Coaching Right for You?

Coaching is for people experiencing:

  • transitions (career shifts, identity changes, relocation, relationships)

  • burnout recovery and capacity-building

  • boundaries, communication, and relational patterns

Life Coaching vs Therapy

Coaching at Gnosis is separate from psychotherapy. It is not a diagnosis, mental health treatment, or counseling. Instead, life coaching is a collaborative, future-oriented process that helps you clarify what matters most, honor your nervous system, and take grounded, values-aligned steps in your life, work, and relationships. Coaching is not appropriate for a crisis, or when a diagnosable mental health condition is the primary concern. In those cases, we recommend working with a licensed mental health professional in your state.

Gnosis Wellness Collective offers both. Counseling is provided by licensed clinicians for mental health treatment, and coaching is a separate, non-clinical service. Some people start with one and move to the other, and we'll help you work out which fits where you are. You can read more about our counseling services in Charleston, or our yoga and breathwork classes.

Common Questions

01.

At Gnosis Wellness Collective, we take confidentiality very seriously. We are committed to protecting our clients' privacy and ensuring that all personal information and details shared during consultations, treatments, and sessions remain strictly confidential. Here's how we ensure confidentiality: Secure Records: All client records are stored securely, whether in digital or physical form. Please see our FAQs page for a full description of our privacy policies.

02.

How is this different from therapy?

Coaching is not mental health treatment, does not include diagnosis, and is not appropriate for crisis or acute safety concerns. If you’re unsure which you need, we can help clarify and direct you to the appropriate service or provider.

03.

Do you work with high-functioning burnout?

Yes. Coaching is ideal for anyone interested in learning how to integrate and overcome the challenges inherent to being human. ADAPT is designed to facilitate and empower clients to understand and shift their beliefs around challenging experiences associated with loss, fostering opportunities for growth and change. This ranges from individual needs to business executives and teams. We’ve worked with culturally diverse populations, including veterans, teachers, parents, government leaders, healthcare providers, professionals, and people seeking more profound meaning and purpose in life. If you still feel stuck, and that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
