Somatic wellness retreat in El Paredón Guatemala

A surf, breathwork, and somatic retreat for couples who are building ambitious lives and want their relationship to stay strong while they do it.

What Is The Driven Together Retreat?

Driven Together is a couples retreat in El Paredón, Guatemala, designed for partners who want to strengthen their connection, improve communication, and reconnect with what matters most beneath the pressure of work, leadership, family, and daily life.

This experience combines surf, yoga, breathwork, somatic relationship education, and guided couples practices in a setting that naturally helps people slow down and become more present.

For many couples, success brings opportunity, but it can also bring strain. Conversations become logistical. Stress spills into the relationship. One or both partners can begin to feel more like operators than intimate partners.

This retreat creates space to step out of the usual momentum and reconnect in a more grounded, intentional way.

Through movement, reflection, shared experience, and practical tools, couples leave with more than a great trip. They leave with language, practices, and new ways of relating that they can carry into everyday life.

WHY El PAREDON, GUATEMALA?

We’ve known the incredible owners of Swell, Elan, and Marie for almost a decade, and we’re grateful to count them among friends. The retreat's main hosts were among the first to travel to the quaint fishing town of El Paredon through the Warrior Surf Foundation. The welcoming, thoughtful environment they’ve created is what first drew us to host wellness retreats in their space. Swell offers a rustic yet elevated, barefoot boho-chic atmosphere. It’s an easy place to exhale, unplug, and settle in. It’s designed for travelers (and retreat groups) to gather, kick back, and share in a small piece of paradise. This retreat blends nervous-system support with real-life practices: breath work , yoga, and somatic coaching to help you regulate, reconnect, and come home to yourself, without pressure or performance. El Paredón is a historic fishing village nestled between the Pacific coast and the mangrove forests, with deep roots and a steadily growing surf culture. Its reputation as a surf destination is rising, and for good reason. Whether you’re a beginner, experienced surfer, or have never surfed a day in your life, you’ll love the uncrowded waves and laid-back rhythm of the town. And beyond the waves, it’s the heart of El Paredón that makes it special: a welcoming community, warm smiles, barefoot evenings, and a grounded energy that makes it easy to settle in and feel at home.

This retreat is an educational wellness experience that includes guided reflection, somatic awareness practices, and community activities. It is not psychotherapy or mental health treatment, and participation does not establish a therapist-client relationship with any facilitator.

This Is Not Just a Vacation

It’s structured support and real practice in an environment that makes it easier to downshift.

Couples don’t usually struggle because they don’t care.

They struggle because pressure changes the way they communicate, respond, ask, avoid, pursue, or shut down.

AN ALL-INCLUSIVE RETREAT THAT EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

What’s Included in the Retreat

Most wellness retreats focus on a single experience, such as surfing, yoga, meditation, or workshops. Driven Together is intentionally designed to integrate several approaches that support real change: somatic coaching, breathwork, surf instruction, group work, and time for rest and reflection. These practices work together to help couples move beyond insight alone and develop skills they can apply in everyday life.

Couples will be invited to join a private online group where participants can connect, receive retreat updates, and access preparation resources. A brief virtual welcome gathering will also be held before the retreat so couples can meet each other and ask questions.

Why Couples Come

This retreat is for couples who feel the need to step out of the momentum of everyday life and spend time in a place that allows things to slow down.

It’s for partners who are curious about themselves, about each other, and about the ways their bodies, thoughts, and environments shape how they move through the world together. Some couples come because life has been full and demanding. Others come because they’re at a transition point, or because they want time to reconnect with what matters in their relationship.

You do not need experience with surfing, yoga, or somatic practices to participate. What tends to matter most is a willingness to be present, to try new things, surrender, and to spend time in conversation and reflection with your partner.

The retreat brings together movement, time in nature, conversation, and guided experiences that help couples reconnect with themselves and with each other. Many participants leave with a deeper understanding of their partner, new perspectives on their relationship, and practices they can carry back into their everyday lives.
